Comment In 1807 Messrs Hustler had a dressing place at High Henshaw, called the "Cropping Shop", where they paid very liberal wages.
When this place was in its glory the Luddites, a band of evil-minded persons who were opposed to the introduction of steam power & new machinery into mills, were committing great depredations in the surrounding district, & amongst other places paid a visit to the "Cropping Shop".
The proceedings of the Luddites ended in murder, for which fourteen of the gang were executed at York Castle in one day.
